Welcome to Year 3/4

Behaviour Reward

In September 2016 we had a bouncy castle as a reward for having full attendance and good behaviour for the previous half term. It was brilliant to play instead of work!

In our Geography lessons we had been learning about Europe and our European neighbours. We created a hall display of facts we had found out about European countries and created silhouettes of famous European landmarks. We based our class assembly around this topic. We have also created structures of the Eiffel Tower in our DT lessons. It was very fiddly and sticky but the results are worthwhile!

First Aid

On 13th September 2016 St John’s Ambulance came to school and delivered first aid sessions. We worked with the Y2 class to learn how to help people in an emergency situation.

Our class was chosen to deliver the harvest produce we had collected to the elderly people in our community. It took the whole afternoon! The bags were really heavy but it was good to speak to lots of people and make them happy with the food we had collected for them.

On Thursday 5th January we were given a Judo taster session from Destination Judo. We did loads of fun activities in a very short time and had a good introduction to the sport. We liked wearing the jackets and trying to ‘throw’ our friends to the floor- safely!!!

Friends of King George V

In the autumn term we worked with Paul from the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and the Friends of King George Vth playing field to learn about the wildlife area they had created and help them create a brass rubbing trail. We visited the area first to get ideas; it was very cold and wet!! Then we had time in the classroom to work on our designs.

These are the finished brass plaques that you can see in the wildlife area and take brass rubbings from. We are really pleased that all the hard work we did paid off and is there for everyone in the community to enjoy.

For the Christmas Performance the Y3/4 class acted out the roles in the Nativity as the rest of the school narrated the main events and sang songs. We really enjoyed dressing up. Don’t our sheep look sweet!!

Roald Dahl Day

On 13th September 2016 we celebrated Roald Dahl day on what would have been his 100th birthday! We all dressed up as our favourite characters and visited our local library to learn more about the books he wrote.

Teesmouth Trip

On Monday 27th February we went to Teesmouth to learn more about our science topic on rocks. It was a cold day and we spent a long time at the beach looking for different types of rocks. We then took them back to the centre to experiment on. It was a fantastic day and the beach was definitely the best part.

Warburton's Trip

On 22nd November 2016 Shor, from Warburton’s, came into school to work with us.  We learned about all the jobs that are done in the Warburton’s factory and we also learned about eating a healthy and balanced diet.  We tasted different kinds of bread then we got to make our own bread bun which was baked over lunchtime – that was definitely the best bit!  Don’t we look cool in our blue hair nets and aprons?
