Hockey Tournament

Guisborough Hockey Champions

On Wednesday 23rd March year 6 took part in the Guisborough Cluster Hockey competition at Macmillan College in Middlesbrough. We entered two teams and the children played against other teams from Highcliffe, Belmont and St Paulinus.

Team A, captained by Blaine Strange, showed great skill and determination winning every match that they played. In the final they played against St Paulinus and whilst the match was close, Chaloner A won. This means that Chaloner retain their title of ‘Guisborough champions’ for the third consecutive year.

Despite losing every match that they played, Team B showed real grit and excellent team spirit. Their heads never went down and they congratulated every team that beat them. We can feel very proud of both teams!

As Guisborough champions, Chaloner A qualify for the next round of the competition where they will play other schools from East Cleveland. The next round takes place on Wednesday 13th April at Thornaby Academy. We wish them the best of luck!

Y3 Mini Tennis Tournament

Y3 Mini Tennis Tournament 2016

On Wednesday 4th May 2016 the Y3 tennis team went to play in the Guisborough Cluster Mini Tennis competition at Saltburn Leisure Centre. Competing for the girls’ team were Zoe, Courtney, Ellie and Ruby and for the boys Riley, AJ, Charlie and Robert. Our non-travelling reserves were Melissa and Christan.

We had big shoes to follow as our Y3 team from last year were very successful winning both the Cluster and Partnership rounds.

The girls’ team played their matches first whilst the boys took part in the skills part of the competition, working as a team. They then swapped round. All of the children worked hard and enjoyed meeting and competing against children from the other Guisborough Schools.

At the end of the event the results were announced in reverse order. We waited anxiously until Mrs Dodds announced that joint second place were Belmont and St Paulinus and at that point the Chaloner team gave a big cheer as they realised they had come first – again!

Everyone in the team was a credit to the school and they now look forward to competing in the Partnership round against 3 other schools on Wednesday 11th May.

Despite losing every match that they played, Team B showed real grit and excellent team spirit. Their heads never went down and they congratulated every team that beat them. We can feel very proud of both teams!

Year 4 Tennis Tournament

On Tuesday, June 21st, 2016, the Year 4 tennis team went to Tennis World to play in an all-day Games Festival. The Chaloner team were representing Redcar and Cleveland. They were playing teams from Hartlepool, Stockton, Darlington, Middlesbrough and Redcar. The competition was tough, but Lewis, Harry, Levi, Robbie, Stacey, Sky, Maddy and Freya, played extremely well throughout. They represented the school brilliantly. Mrs Sutton (one of Chaloner’s governors, who helped coach the children) and Year 4 teacher Miss Limbert, were both extremely proud of them. Very well done indeed!
